Shadow-Whiskers

“My time comes. I will show you. All of you.„
Overview[edit | edit source]
History[edit | edit source]
Before Shadow-Whiskers became a circus attraction, she lived in the wild with her cubs and mate. However, hunters murdered her mate and some of her cubs, stealing others, a trauma which she has yet to recover from. Dribbles was working to help Shadow-Whiskers "see life anew", but his efforts were not yet completed before he was murdered.[1][2]
Involvement[edit | edit source]
If spoken to, Shadow-Whiskers appears to be particularly resentful and violent.
Speak with Animals[edit | edit source]
If spoken to with
, the party can inquire or mock her:- Why good?
- That cage looks comfy.
...and then persuade her into revealing what she wants to do:
- [INTIMIDATION] Tell me what you're up to or I set this cage on fire. (DC 15)
- [PERSUASION] Show me what? Come on - your secret is safe with me. (DC 10)
If successful, Shadow-Whiskers reveals she wishes to murder everyone in the crowd. To do something about this, the party can then examine the lock:
- [ROGUE] [INVESTIGATION] Check if the cage's lock is secure. (DC 15 )
- [INVESTIGATION] Examine the cage. (DC 15 )
Successfully passing the check reveals the lock is old and can be jammed. The talking party member can then try to break or jam the lock to keep Shadow-Whiskers locked up:
- [ROGUE] Break the lock with a well-time jab.
- Break the lock, ensuring the cage can't be opened.
Later, when Dribbles' true nature is revealed and the doppelgangers attempt to release Shadow-Whiskers, she remains locked in her cage.
Without Speak with Animals[edit | edit source]
If speaking without Speak with Animals, Shadow-Whiskers attention is instead focused on the crowd, thus the party must instead pass an Animal Handling check to catch her attention to realize her true intention:
- [ANIMAL HANDLING] Make a noise, trying to catch her attention. (DC 15)
The party can then pass the Investigation check as above to examine and break the lock to trap her:
- [ROGUE] Slip an old, broken lockpick into the keyhole, jamming the lock shut.
- Break the lock, trapping the beast within.
Finally, the party can also opt to leave her alone, doing nothing but garnering some approval/disapproval:
- Murder whoever you want. I'll be long gone.
- Sure thing, pussycat. Later.
- Kill them all, kitty.
