About[edit | edit source]

Mimics can transform to take on the appearance of ordinary objects, often resembling that of treasure chests. They lie in wait and grow long tentacles and sharp teeth, only revealing them just before feasting on unaware prey that get too close.

Mimics can be found at Grymforge and Moonrise Towers. An appearance is also made during a cut-scene in the Counting House.

Tactics[edit | edit source]

Mimics are ambushers, using their ability to disguise to take their enemies by surprise. Upon approaching a Mimic while disguised, a DC 20 Perception check is made. If failed, that character is Surprised Surprised as the fight begins.

It is advisable to fight Mimics with ranged attacks, as they have only half the movement speed of most enemies, and most of their attacks are made at close range, where their Pseudopod Lash Pseudopod Lash attacks can pull a party member down a chasm or off a cliff face (e.g. while fighting them in Grymforge). It is also wise to keep extra weapons on hand in case a character is eaten by their Bite Bite attack.

Because of their low Intelligence, Wisdom and Charisma, Mimics are vulnerable to the many spells involving such Saving Throws.
