Worg Pens

Overview[edit | edit source]
Worg Pens serve both as a place where the Goblin Camp's worgs are kept and also as prison for those party members who are arrested within the camp and Shattered Sanctum territory. The pens can be accessed from two points:
- The main entrance from the antechamber adjacent to Minthara's headquarters.
- A secret passage which can be opened after interacting with the Dead Elf corpse at X: 416 Y: -44.
After entering the Worg Pens, there are two small rooms on both sides. In the western one, a wooden chest contains some valuables, while in the eastern room a Potion of Healing can be taken and also three random scrolls from the broken cabinet. While the goblins in the pens are still alive, picking up any of these items is considered a transgression.
Animal pens[edit | edit source]
The Worg Pens are managed by Beastmaster Zurk and Butcher Vrak, who oversee the prisoners and occasionally feed the worgs with those who are no longer deemed useful. Warrior Plig patrols the area in front of the entrance. Two worgs, Ferr and Tale, are locked in the far pen. They are the offspring of Klaw in the Goblin Camp. Both pens are opened with levers on nearby walls.
When the party visit the pens, the sole living creature contained in the other pen is Halsin, the First Druid of the Emerald Grove, disguised as a Cave Bear. Two goblin children, One and Three, throw sharp rocks at him through the pen gates, encouraged by their tutor Brawler Birka.
Upon approaching the pen, the dialogue between the player character, the Cave Bear, Birka and the goblin kids starts automatically. The party can side with the bear or with the goblins, or leave the conversation without taking a decision. If the character speaking has the
effect active, the bear asks them for help. Also, the player character may choose to attack the goblins or shoot the lever which keeps the grate shut from afar without starting the conversation.Siding with the Halsin or aiding him in any way starts a fight with all the goblins in the pens and both worgs, with Halsin as an ally of the party. Aiding Halsin causes him to break free from his cell and kill Birka immediately. If the fight is started without interacting with Halsin at all, he breaks free on the first turn he gets and kills Birka if alive. Choosing to attack Halsin while he is still in bear form, throwing a rock at him, or leaving him to the goblins' mercy is considered an oathbreaking action for the .
At the start of the fight, the two goblin children try to flee and call for assistance. If successful, they draw in the guards outside the doors, Sharp-eye Neem, Sharp-eye Eef, and Sharp-eye Nass, but this does not turn the whole camp hostile.
Once the fight is resolved, a surviving Halsin sheds his wildshape, and a dialogue with him starts immediately, progressing the quest Needs Verification]
and . Otherwise, the Cave Bear corpse reverts to the dead druid, concluding the quest as failed.[The wooden chest near the butcher's block at X: 377 Y: -44 contains Beastmaster's Chain amulet and several potions of health of various grades. From one of the wooden barrels nearby some Camp Supplies can be taken. On the adjacent table lay several pieces of Suspicious Meat, which can also be used as food for Long Rests, despite their questionable origin. Among these, a Prison Key which opens the Worg Pens cell can be found, while another can be looted from Plig.
In the pen where the worgs were kept, a Worg Fang can be taken from a pile of bones.
Prison cell[edit | edit source]
Although most traditionally attitude-reducing crimes in the Goblin Camp trigger all-out hostility, a player character who is instead arrested is ultimately kept here. The cell is located upstairs on the eastern side of the Worg Pens. Under the stairs there is a storeroom where more Camp Supplies and some Potions of Healing can be found.
Inside the cell, a Smokepowder Bomb and a Grease Bottle can be taken from the window sill, and another bomb can be obtained from the human-shaped Spider Silk Coccoon hanging up under the ceiling. At X: 416 Y: -44, a corpse of a dead elf is tucked into a mysterious hole. Pulling it out does not require any skill checks. The corpse can be spoken to via .
The half-cleared mysterious hole can afterwards be destroyed to create a passage back to the Shattered Sanctum. The player character then emerges at X: 346 Y: 14. It leads to the Worg Pens antechamber, but the exit is hidden behind stone shelves in its far corner. This passage cannot be opened from outside.
