- Affected entity has embraced ceremorphosis and become a mind flayer.

- While in combat, Mind Flayers can use actions and bonus actions interchangeably.

Features

Ability Drain
Once per turn, when you make an Attack Roll, the attack reduces that target's corresponding Ability by 1. The reduced ability score cannot be decreased lower than 1.
Charm
Channel the dark allure of the tadpole to Charm an enemy that attacks you, preventing them from attacking you until their next turn.
Cull the Weak
When you bring a creature down to fewer hit points than your number of evolved illithid powers, it dies and all nearby creatures take 1~4Psychic damage.
Favourable Beginnings
The first Attack roll or Ability check you make against any target gains a bonus equal to your Proficiency Bonus.
Luck of the Far Realms
Once per Long Rest, you can change a successful Attack Roll against a foe into a Critical Hit.
Permanent Mind Sanctuary
You can use actions and bonus actions interchangeably.
Psionic Backlash
When a nearby enemy casts a spell, you use your reaction to deal 1d4Psychic damage for every level of that spell.
Psionic Dominance
When an enemy within 18 m / 60 ft targets you with a spell of a Level that is lower than or equal to your Proficiency Bonus, you can use your reaction to nullify the spell.

A full-illithid is a character who has undergone complete

ceremorphosis and become a mind flayer.

Overview edit

This option only becomes available after travelling to the Astral Plane during the quest Confront the Elder Brain.

In order to transform, the player character must offer to do so while in dialogue with the Emperor or Orpheus once they have reached the Astral Plane after travelling to the Morphic Pool. If Karlach is brought along, she also offers to transform. It is not necessary for the player character or Karlach to have accepted the Astral-Touched Tadpole and become a partial-illithid in order to become a full-illithid.

While all party members may become partial-illithid, only the player character, Orpheus or Karlach may undergo the full transformation.

Undoing the transformation is only possible for Gale as an Origin character. If completing The Wizard of Waterdeep and handing over the Crown of Karsus to Mystra, the goddess of magic transforms Gale back into his human self to show her gratitude.

Changes edit

The player characters and Karlach still have access to their previous set of abilities and proficiencies. However, ability scores, race and type change (see info box).

A transformed Orpheus has slightly different stats, and only has access to his illithid powers.
