Clench of the North Wind is an action that allows a Way of the Four Elements monk to cast their equivalent of Hold Person Hold Person by expending Ki Points instead of spell slots.

Description

Hold a humanoid enemy still. They can't move, act or react. Attacks from within 3 m / 10 ft are always critical hits.

  • Unlike with an upcast Hold Person Hold Person, the targets of a level 9 Clench of the North Wind do not need to be distinct. This means a single target can be chosen twice which forces it to make two initial saves. However, on subsequent turns, it will only need to succeed one saving throw to remove the Hold Person Hold Person effect since multiple instances of the effect do not stack.
