Thorn Whip is a cantrip (Transmutation). It deals damage to a target and pulls it closer to the caster.

Description

Pulls the creature 3 m / 10 ft closer to you.

The target cannot be pulled if it is Huge in size.

At higher levels

• At character level 5, the damage increases to 2d6Piercing.
• At character level 10, the damage increases to 3d6Piercing.

How to learn

Classes:

• Class level 1: Druid, and Nature Domain (Domain Spell)
• Class level 3: Warlock (via Pact of the Tome)

Granted by features:

•  Magic Initiate: Druid
•  Spell Sniper

Other ways to learn:

• There are no scrolls available for wizards to scribe to their spellbooks.

Notes

• Despite having a range of 9 m / 30 ft, this cantrip actually uses a melee spell attack roll. This means the caster does not suffer from Disadvantage when attacking in close range. It can also trigger reactions and passives which activate with melee attacks such as  Shield Blow.
• The incantation for Thorn Whip is Fragilo, Latin for "brittle" or "frail."

Bugs

• This spell lacks an IsHarmful SpellFlags tag, and as such is able to target creatures affected by  Sanctuary.
