- Class level 3: Oath of the Ancients (Oath Spell), and Wildheart
- Class level 6: Knowledge Domain
- Character level 1: Forest Gnome
(Character level is the sum of all class levels for a multi-classed character.)

- Also granted to Warlocks who choose the Eldritch Invocation at level 2+. This version of the spell can only target self, and does not expend Spell Slots.
Notes
- Wildheart Barbarians can cast this spell once per Long Rest.
- Forest Gnomes can cast this spell once per Long Rest.
- Knowledge Domain clerics cast this spell using a Channel Divinity Charge instead of a spell slot.
- Druids must keep this spell Prepared, or the effect will be lost.
- The incantations for Speak with Animals are Amicus Animales ("Friend of animals") and Loque Sentibi Plus ("Speak! I will feel more.") 'Sentibi' does not represent a Latin grammatical form.
