Cruel Sting

Cruel Sting is a rare +1 Longsword that deals extra Poison damage against  Restrained targets if the wielder is a drow elf. It also grants the  Ensnaring Strands spell.

The trauma of becoming a drider is quickly set aside with a cold arachnid dispassion. This sword follows that disturbing trend - a replenishing poison gland is built within, deployed only against trapped opponents.

 Pommel Strike ()

Make a non-lethal attack against an enemy and possibly  Daze them. ( Recharge: Short rest.)

 Rush Attack ()

Charge forward and attack the first enemy in your way, possibly pushing them  Off Balance. ( Recharge: Short rest.)

Notes

• Sting the Helpless deals extra poison damage to a creature under any condition in the  Restrained status group, which includes (but is not limited to):
  •  Black Tentacles, via  Evard's Black Tentacles
  •  Ensnared, via  Ensnaring Strike and all its variations
  •  Entangled, via  Entangle or  Umbral Tangle
  •  Enwebbed, via  Web or  Ensnaring Strands
  •  Hamstrung, via  Hamstring Shot weapon action, available for longbows and shortbows
• Any character  disguised as a drow can also benefit from Sting the Helpless.

Bugs

• When this sword is looted from Kar'niss, it retains  Spindleweb Fanatic until Long Rest, granting additional 1d6Psychic damage to weapon attacks.
•  Spindleweb Fanatic can be retained indefinitely by dropping the weapon on the ground or stashing it in a container prior to each long rest.
