Vlaakith's Will

From bg3.wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search

Vlaakith's Will is a sub-quest of Lae'zel Lae'zel's personal quest, The Githyanki Warrior The Githyanki Warrior. It is initiated in Act Three if the player character accepts an offer from Vlaakith Queen Vlaakith when she visits their camp.

This quest is an alternative path to Lae'zel's other sub-quest, The Prince of the Comet The Prince of the Comet, wherein Vlaakith's offer is rejected.

  • "Vlaakith appeared to me in camp and made an offer: kill Orpheus, and she will ascend me to the Astral Plane and anoint me as her Chosen. I agreed to honour her command. Orpheus will die by my hand, and I will be named Baht t'Vlaakith."
Kill Orpheus once the Netherbrain is defeated.
  • "I have freed Orpheus, and he lives - for now. I can slay him when the Netherbrain has fallen and the prince is no longer of use to me."
Quest complete

  • "The Prince of the Comet lives, and is soon to ride the Astral Plane atop his great dragon. In Vlaakith's eyes, I will be forever Hshar'lak - a traitor."
  • "Orpheus has taken his own life. Vlaakith's will is done. When I ascend, I will become Baht t'Vlaakith - Vlaakith's Chosen."

Walkthrough[edit | edit source]

Early in Act Three, Vlaakith Vlaakith appears at the campsite during the Long Rest upon entering Rivington in the form of an astral projection and demands that Lae'zel Lae'zel kill Orpheus Orpheus, promising to anoint her as her Chosen.

Here, if Lae'zel learned the truth from Voss Voss and became intent on overthrowing Vlaakith, she can be convinced (with a difficult check) to change her mind again:

  • [PERSUASION] Kneel, Lae'zel. To be the god-queen's Chosen is an extraordinary honour. (DC 30)
  • [WISDOM] Connect with Lae'zel's parasite. 'Commander of Dragons. This is your destiny.' (DC 30)

Otherwise, Lae'zel has the option to turn Vlaakith down, and continue with the quest The Prince of the Comet The Prince of the Comet. Depending on how previous events concerning this part of the plot unfolded earlier in the game (e.g., both learning the truth about Orpheus and being betrayed by Vlaakith upon exiting the Astral Prism at the Crèche Y'llek), Lae'zel may automatically refuse her demands - without any intervention by the player character.

If Lae'zel refuses, no actual consequences occur, although Vlaakith threatens that Lae'zel will be hunted down by her dragon-riding warriors. The sub-quest may be resolved in the final episodes of the game, when the party gain access inside the Astral Prism, or after the fight with the Netherbrain Netherbrain.
