Minsc/Location Remarks

From bg3.wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search

A collection of Minsc Minsc's remarks and voicebarks in various locations or plot scenes throughout the game. In some party combinations, a particular party member (including Custom Origin (Tav)) have the priority to voice their line. In these cases, Minsc's line is not used at all, or he utters a responding remark, if there is any.

Also, some lines provided for Minsc initially (as well as for other party members) have been cut or rendered inactive during further development.

Since Minsc may become a fully-featured party companion only during the Act Three, there are none such remarks for him within most locations or scenes of the Act One and Two.

Act Three[edit | edit source]

Note: Though Minsc can only be recruited when exploring the Lower City, location remarks in Rivington (and in Lower City before resolving Aid the Underduke Aid the Underduke quest) can still be triggered if the corresponding encounters had been for whatever reason left untouched by the player character.

  • (Read the poster about Gortash’s ordaining/Arfur’s pass): “Gortash becoming Archduke, and no invitation for Boo? Let us go to Wyrm's Rock and teach him some manners.”
  • (Felt the earthquake for the first time): “Eh... Boo? Was that you?”
    • (Responding remark): “No, Boo. It was not something I ate.”
    • (After the second earthquake): “More rumbling! CLING ON, BOO!”
    • (After the third earthquake): “Enough jiggling! We will find this brain, and Boo will teach it to sit.”
  • (Met Orin in disguise for the first time): “So Orin can change her face. Then Minsc's strategy is simple: punch first, apologise later.”
    • (After meeting her a second time): “Yes, Boo, I think this Chosen does have too much time on her hands.”
  • (Near Abandoned Windmill, heard screams from beneath): “A scream from below! And not because I sat on Boo.”
    • (If agreed to find food for the illithid, but it was gone): “The mind flayer we aided has fled. We won't regret this at all, will we Boo?”
  • (Saw the gnomes’ footprints outside the cave, Perception Perception check):
    • (Successful): “Little footprints leading into a cave. Cute, when it is Boo - but in this case, sinister.”
    • (Failed): “Boo's little hackles are all askew. Something is not right.”
  • (Trying to open the Angleiron's Cellar hatch from inside): “Locked, and no keyhole. A secret word, perhaps, or - yes, Boo, a lever does make more sense.”
  • (Trying to open it from the smithy): “Locked from beyond, and no keyhole for Boo to squeeze through. No, I am not saying you are fat...”
  • (Found blood puddle in Rivington smithy, if Orin was impersonating Gyldro Angleiron): “The angry smith you spoke of - you said you did not kill him, yes...?”
  • (Noticed the Strange Ox): “Boo, I think that ox is staring. Do you perhaps owe him some coin?”

Encounter with smugglers and guild thugs:[edit | edit source]

  • (Found headless corpse, Medicine Medicine check):
    • (Successful): “Boo knows the smell of fresh blood. The doer of this deed is still near at hand.”
    • (Failed): “Boo suspects that this one did not trip and hit his head.”
  • (Saw the ship from Moonrise Towers docks): “There. That is the ship that was to come downriver from Moonrise, wherever that is.”
  • (Saw smugglers and Guild thugs ready for fight): “A fight begins! And every head in it deserves to get broken! What luck!”
  • (Found tadpole barrels after the fight): “A barrel of worms, slipped into the city. Let us feed the pigeons, Boo.”

Circus of the Last Days[edit | edit source]

  • (Saw Akabi’s fake treasure, 1): “Bah! Boo has pooped truer diamonds than these.”
  • (Saw Akabi’s fake treasure, 2): “Hah! Minsc will not fall for this fool's gold. Not for a sixth time.”
  • (Saw Akabi’s fake treasure, 3): “A shiny shell with nothing inside. Minsc has known many wizards just the same.”
  • (Saw Akabi’s junk prizes, 1): “This city, Boo - even the baubles lie.”
  • (Saw Akabi’s junk prizes, 2): “Lies, Boo. Lies and trinkets!”
  • (Saw Akabi’s junk prizes, 3): “Falser than a Sharran's faith.”
  • (Saw Akabi’s junk prizes, 4): “A fake! See, Boo? You can still taste the paint.”
  • (Sent to the Jungle by Akabi): “Where...? That creature - like great Hornclaw, but naked. Who plucked you, great beast?!”
    • (Returned from jungle): "We are returned, Boo! Now, let us find this djinni - so he can send us AGAIN!"
  • (After the fight with false Dribbles): “A doppelganger. DRIBBLES LIVES, BOO! Or. Perhaps he was simply killed by someone else.”
  • (If the Circus has left): “The circus is... gone? HAHAHA! THEIR BEST TRICK YET!”

Sword Coast Couriers[edit | edit source]

  • (Found pigeon’s remains on the roof, doesn’t have Danzo’s quest): “Pigeon feathers. Nasty rats with wings. Minsc prefers eagles - the hamsters of the sky!”
  • (Nature Nature check successful): “Pigeon feathers! From one of the postmaster's fallen soldiers?”
    • (Failed): “Feathers! Enough for a pillow of Boo proportions.”
  • (Investigation Investigation check successful): “More pigeon blood, leading to the temple. Dragged off in a predator's maw, no doubt.”
    • (Failed): “Ugh. I will be picking pigeon from my boots for hours.”
    • (Responding remark to a successful check): “Perhaps the missing missives are there?”

Open Hand Temple[edit | edit source]

  • (At the roof, saw Tara, haven’t recruited Gale): “A tressym. Cat and hawk in one, with twice the appetite for hamster.”
    • (At the roof, saw Tara, didn’t notice Gale’s symbol): “A bewinged cat...? Hairballs raining from the sky - a frightening prospect, Boo.”
    • (At the roof, saw Tara, recognised Gale’s symbol): “That symbol on its throat - this mewling abomination is Gale's?”
    • (At the roof, saw Tara, met her at the camp[1]): “Gale's feathered friend has slipped her leash. Eyes away from Boo, cloud-cat!”
    • (At the roof, saw Tara, Gale’s in the party): “That symbol on its throat - is this mewling abomination yours, Gale?”
  • (Opened Lorgan’s chest, Investigation Investigation check successful): “This chest has a false bottom. Reach deep - but careful! It might be hungry.”
  • (Entered the crypt without the Sentient Amulet): “Let us wait for the mad bejewelled monk. He will want to be here.”
    • (Entered the crypt with the amulet in the inventory): “A crypt. Now to find where this Shirra Clarwen rests.”
    • (Found Shirra’s tomb with the amulet in the inventory): “Here the granddaughter lies. Let us bring them back together, Boo.”
    • (Relieved the Cursed Monk): “I am no longer tickled. He has finished with his laughing - I hope now he can smile. Quietly.”
    • (Defeated the Monk and zombies): “Minsc has been called less than sane, but that one... may silence bring him peace.”
  • (Found dead refugees under the temple, knowing about Lorgan’s help): “The poor souls Father Lorgan meant to save.”
    • (Responding remark): “He could not save them - so let us avenge them instead.”
  • (Found dead refugees under the temple, not knowing about Lorgan’s help): “These are no fighters. They only wanted safety down here.”
    • (Responding remark): “And all they did was climb into their own tomb. Do not look, Boo.”
  • (Found killer’s dagger under the temple, knows its feat): “A fine blade - if it were not still dripping with Father Lorgan's blood.”
    • (Not knowing its feat): “Quite a bloodletting, Boo. Father Lorgan did not die easily, I think.”
  • (Looted the Flowery Key, AND has found another in the Flophouse): “Another key. A tiny little twin to the one from the flophouse.”

Arfur's Mansion[edit | edit source]

  • (Entering the basement): “Darker than a durthan's heart. I will punch wildly into the dark, so none may ambush us.”
  • (Found a half-stitched bear, knows the story): “Beware. Boo. Bear. Boom.”
    • (Found a half-stitched bear, not knowing the story): “You may be half-formed, little bear, but Minsc can see your heart. Your stuffing, too.”
  • (Found blackmail letter to Arfur, been in the barn, haven’t met him): “Look, Boo - this place is the source of those booby-trapped bears.”
      • (Responding remark): “This foul scene confirms it. Let us see how this toymaker likes having his stuffing spilled.”
    • (Found blackmail letter to Arfur, been in the barn, met him): “Look, Boo - Arfur is the one putting booby-trapped bears into innocent baby hands.”
    • (Found blackmail letter to Arfur, haven't been in the barn, met him): “These are not the fixings of a soft and cuddlesome toy. We should see what Arfur is really making...”
    • (Found blackmail letter to Arfur, haven't been in the barn, haven’t met him): “These are no fixings for a soft and cuddlesome toy. The children in these parts have strange tastes, Boo...”
  • (Found stuffed bears in the barn, not knowing the story): “See the toys, Boo! Minsc would play, if they did not snap like twigs and make the children sob so.”
    • (Knowing the story): “That letter mentioned toys that had been tampered with. Do not be deceived by their cute and buttoned eyes, Boo.”

Wyrm's Crossing[edit | edit source]

Fraygo's Flophouse[edit | edit source]

  • (Approaching the building, saw the symbol on it): “These flowery designs match the flowery key we found. Perhaps it opens a flowery door inside?”
  • (After Astarion’s siblings vanished): “I thought this trick of mistification was a thing of masters, not spawn.”
  • (Found another flower-shaped key): “This key - the shapeshifter's corpse carried its twin. Perhaps it too is a shapeshifter... only tinier.”
  • (Opened killer’s secret room): “The shapeshifters' key fits! They guard their undergarments jealously, eh Boo?”
  • (Saw killer’s trophies in the secret room): “Eugh. Boo has nibbled his share of enemy innards, but to display them so... it is a little much.”
  • (Noticed the bloody stains): “Blood, by the bed. Someone did not sleep soundly, I think.”
  • (Found temple map, not visited it yet): “A nest of tunnels beneath some temple called 'Father Lorgan'. Wait... that is a person, Boo.”
    • (Found temple map after visiting it): “These mark tunnels beneath the Open Hand Temple. With the dead priest's name written above - do you smell fish, Boo?”
    • (Found temple map, knows about the killed priest): “Tunnels underneath the Open Hand Temple... and a dead priest's name written here.”
    • (Found temple map, knows about killed priest and tunnels beneath): “A map of Father Lorgan's tunnels - and his name scrawled above. Someone was watching him, Boo.”
    • (Found temple map, already killed doppelgangers in tunnels beneath): “The shapeshifters' locations, with Father Lorgan's name beside. Someone was hunting him, Boo.”

Wyrm's Rock Fortress[edit | edit source]

  • (Received Gortash’s invitation, convinced the guards): “This Gortash. He is larger and more full of gears than our friends described, Boo.”
  • (Received Gortash’s invitation, passed the guards around): “A fist-to-face meeting? Boo is looking forward.”
  • (Duke Ravengard dies if attacked during the ceremony, 1): “Boo! What happened?! The Duke was not meant to die from such a blow. Did the Absolute do this?”
    • (Duke Ravengard dies if attacked during the ceremony, 2): “Boo! What happened?! The Duke was not meant to die from such a blow.”
    • (Responding remark): “The Absolute has caused this.”
  • (Party found themselves in the Wyrm's Rock Prison): “Look Boo, our cell after the Elfsong incident! That was a mouthy cheese vendor.”
    • (Responding remark): “There is always a way out, my friends. Sometimes you just have to make one with your face.”
  • (Found thief's stash on the roof, Investigation Investigation check successful): "An illusion. The very stones of this place lie."

The Wyrmway[edit | edit source]

  • (Entering the Wyrmway): “Look, Boo! Such cavernous ruins - this would have made you a fine lair.”
  • (Looking at the first mural in Wyrmway, History History check[2]):
    • (Successful): “A bronze dragon, hand-in-claw with an elf. A powerful alliance - though not so powerful as ours, Boo.”
    • (Failed): “A seafaring elf and a dragon. And... not locked in glorious battle?”
  • (Looking at the second mural in Wyrmway, History History check):
    • (Successful): “Balduran and his bewinged friend looking over the city. Yes, yes - but when do they fight?”
    • (Failed): “The dragon and the elf are taking in a pretty view, Boo. We must find it when all of this is done.”
  • (Looking at the third mural in Wyrmway, History History check):
    • (Successful): “And Balduran sails off to die a silly death at sea. Hardly the stuff of heroism, Boo.”
    • (Failed): “The cowardly elf flees by boat, leaving the city to a dragon's mercy. This tale, it is not very realistic.”
  • (Strategy Trial): “Lanceboard! I think you will have more trouble snacking on these pieces, Boo.”
  • (Insight trial, if let the book slip by): “BAH! Slippery as Boo at bath-time!”
  • (Justice trial, saw the paintings): “Bah, paintings. Locked beneath the earth where they belong! Minsc prefers a strong and noble sculpture, like Minsc.”
    • (Justice trial, touched the veiled paintings): “Do you mind, sickly shadow? You are eating up Minsc's light!”
  • (Saw Ansur’s remains): “Only... bones? Oh Boo, the dragon must have starved to death waiting for a worthy hero to eat!”
  • (When Ansur is attacking): “It is going to rain fire! Or ice! Or - bones? Hide, Boo!”

Lower City[edit | edit source]

Elfsong Tavern[edit | edit source]

  • (Investigating Stelmane’s apartment, touched the bed): “Stains of blood, Boo... and something else. Pink as your nose.”
    • (Found Bloody Signet Ring): “A bloodied finger-ring. The killer cared not for trinkets, Boo.”
    • (Found an empty wine bottle, Medicine Medicine check successful): “Hm. Yes. This definitely tastes like poison.”
    • (Failed): “Do you know this scent, Boo? You have finer tastes than I.”
  • (Trying to enter the camp room without renting it): “Are we to rent proper lodgings? Perhaps a fire, to guard Boo's buttocks from the cold?”
  • (In the Knights of the Shield Hideout, heard qua'nith working): “WHAT is that SQUEAKING.”

Baldur's Mouth[edit | edit source]

  • (Forced to leave the Baldur’s Mouth after speaking with Ettvard Needle): “Bah! If they print what filth they spoke, Boo will use Baldur's Mouth for a chamber pot!”
  • (Successfully changed the printing block): “Heh. A pity the ink would not take the imprint of Boo's buttocks.”

Graveyard[edit | edit source]

  • (Found "M.Kurwin" grave, if read one of Gomwick’s letters in Act One): “'Kurwin'. Nine-Fingers wrote them an unkind note - remember, Boo?”
  • (Chased off the looter at "M.Kurwin" grave): “HEY! That almost hit MY HAMSTER!”
  • (Dug up a messed body): “Ugh. Better to bury this one again, I think.”
    • (Responding remark to a Dark Urge Dark Urge character’s confession): “Hmm. I do not think Boo and past-you would have been the best of friends.”

Wine Festival[edit | edit source]

  • (Tasted the poisoned wine, Investigation Investigation check successful):
    • (For the first time): “This wine - it is tainted to deaden not just the mind, but the muscles too. Evil - pure evil!”
    • (Not the first time): “The same paralysing poison as before. Mm, yes. Definitely poisoned.”
  • (If Dolor teleported away): “The drink-tickler escaped! No drunkard in the city is safe!”
  • (Found Dolor’s list of targets): “A list. Of friends? Enemies? Old lodge-mates?”
    • (Found the list of targets, knowing about Open Hands murder): “A list of names, with Father Lorgan's scribbled out... ah, Boo - I do not think this list-maker means these people well!”
  • (Killed Dolor, found the password to the Murder Tribunal): “A door beneath Candulhallow's will open to the word 'Sicarius'. Blech - it tastes of wizard!”

Inactive/Cut Location Remarks[edit | edit source]

In the Lower City

  • (Turned statue head in Ettvard's office, Perception Perception successful): “Hush, Boo! Something stirred above.”
  • (Hit by a flying chair from a ghost): “Boo?! Have we angered the furnishings somehow?!”

Notes[edit | edit source]

  1. Tara becomes a camp follower only if Gale is played as an origin
  2. The History check here is rolled only once by every party member, on any single mural; if any of them succeeded, it impacts all three murals. It is also common with the History check on speaking to the statue of Balduran near the entrance.
