Involvement edit

Act Two edit

Steelclaw can be encountered outside the southeast wall of Moonrise Towers. If spoken with, she identifies as a dedicated predator of the Mind Flayer Tadpoles infesting Moonrise, and resents any intrusion onto her hunting grounds. If the dead tadpole she is toying with is picked up, she flees into the nearby cat hole.

The party can speak with Steelclaw using Speak with Animals Speak with Animals. Doing so grants the inspiration Mutual Respect Mutual Respect for party members with the Outlander Outlander background. Meeting His Majesty His Majesty as well also grants the Alley Cats Alley Cats inspiration to party members with the Urchin Urchin background.

Steelclaw previously met the Dark Urge Dark Urge while they were at Moonrise Towers. If the Dark Urge tries to remember Steelclaw, they go into a daze and kill her. If they use Speak with Animals Speak with Animals to speak to her, she reveals that the Dark Urge grew angry at and kicked Steelclaw for making noise while all others in the tower acknowledged their status with silence.

Without Speak with Animals, the party can try to befriend her but she ignores the party:

  • [ANIMAL HANDLING] Hold out your hand, letting the cat sniff it. (DC 14)

Notes edit

  • Steelclaw's hunting prowess is confirmed in ambient dialogue by the nearby hungry Winged Horrors:
    • "Caat? Take flesh from caaat?"
    • "NO! Not again - my flesh still stings from her claws!"
    • "A great hunter. To be feeaared."
