Toll the Dead

Toll the Dead is a cantrip (Necromancy). It deals Necrotic damage and increases in damage if the target has already been damaged.

Description

Ring the bell of impending doom. If the target is at full health, you deal 1d8Necrotic damage instead.

 Range: 18 m / 60 ft

At higher levels

• At character level 5, the damage increases to 2d12Necrotic (2d8Necrotic if undamaged).
• At character level 10, the damage increases to 3d12Necrotic (3d8Necrotic if undamaged).

How to learn

Classes:

• Class level 1: Cleric, Warlock, Wizard, and Death Domain (Domain Spell)

Races:

• Character level 1: High Elf, and High Half-Elf

(Character level is the sum of all class levels for a multi-classed character.)

Granted by features:

•  Magic Initiate: Cleric
•  Magic Initiate: Warlock
•  Magic Initiate: Wizard

Other ways to learn:

• There are no scrolls available for wizards to scribe to their spellbooks.

Notes

• The incantation for Toll the Dead is Mortalis, Latin for "mortal."
