Involvement edit
Act One edit
Approaching the Frightened Ox in the barn behind the inn triggers a conversation. He thinks the party are part of the raiders and then tries to attack if the party choose one of the following options:
- Back away.
- Defend yourself.
Otherwise, the party can try to perform an Ability Check to pacify him:
- [ANIMAL HANDLING] Interpret his behaviour. (DC 10)
- [PERSUASION] Hold out your hands peacefully. (DC 10)
- [INTIMIDATION] Square your stance and face him directly. (DC 10)
- [BERSERKER] [PERFORMANCE] Stare down the beast. (DC 5)
- [BARBARIAN] [PERFORMANCE] Stare him down, as you have so many beasts in the wild. (DC 5)
- [RANGER] [DRUID] [PERFORMANCE] Bow deeply - a submissive gesture. (DC 5)
If using
, the check is slightly easier and no animal handling check is required:- [PERSUASION] Look at me - I'm not a monster. (DC 5)
- [INTIMIDATION] Stay back. I don't want to hurt you, but I will. (DC 5)
- [DRUID] [PERSUASION] Calm, friend. I won't harm you. (DC 5)
- [BERSERKER] [INTIMIDATION] BACK DOWN, BEAST. (DC 5)
- [BARBARIAN] [INTIMIDATION] Back down. Or else. (DC 5)
However, he attacks Drow on sight, if using Speak with Animals.
