Phantasmal Force is a level 2 illusion spell. It allows spellcasters to flood a target creature's mind with an illusion of the last thing that attacked it, dealing 1d6PsychicPsychic damage per turn, changing to the last type of damage inflicted upon the target.

Description

Deal damage to a creature each turn. At the start of its turn, it takes PsychicPsychic damage. Each subsequent time it takes damage, the damage type of Phantasmal Force changes to match that damage type.

  • When the target takes damage from another source, Phantasmal Force changes to that damage type.
  • At the end of each turn, the target makes an Intelligence saving throw. On a success, the condition ends.

  • There are no scrolls available for wizards to scribe to their spellbooks.

Notes

  • When multiple damage types are dealt in a single hit, base damage type is used. An affected enemy hit by a Mourning Frost attack using the Callous Glow Ring changes the spell damage to 1d6BludgeoningBludgeoning. In other words, neither the staff's cold bonus damage nor the ring's radiant damage is used, as can be seen from examining the combat log.
