[This is a thick notebook containing background dossiers on all the leading patriar families of Baldur's Gate, cross-indexed to show the web of business arrangements and intermarriages between them. A typical entry is as follows.]
Hlath family, arrivistes, relatively speaking. Real estate money, Upper and Lower City - owns Elfsong Tavern, Singing Lute, Stormshore Row, and is silent partner with minority stake in the Blushing Mermaid. Head of family is nominally the elderly Lord Orthagon Hlath, but in practice all decisions are made by his business-savvy daughter, Matron Merrigold. Exploitable vulnerability: favorite grand-neice Holiday Hlath, heir to Lord Orthagon, is an insatiable gambler and owes substantial debts in dicing halls from Stonyeyes to Sow's Foot.
